Podium places for Ali and Tom

Races in Leicestershire produced two podium finishes for Rugby Triathlon Club members at the weekend.

At the Full Boar Sprint, Bosworth (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) Ali Moult was the second lady home in a time of 1:14:27. At the same race fellow club member Nic Clifton finished in a time of 1:24:58.

Meanwhile, at the Leicester Flashman race (400m swim, 18k bike, 5k run) Tom Greeves was the second man home in a time of 58:41. Other club members competing were Paul Jordan – 1:20:42 and Naomi Leugs – 1:29:56.

The Slateman Triathlon in Snowdonia was the tough race undertaken by Kevin Sexton and Richard Thompson on Saturday.

This particular race not only offers some amazing mountainous terrain but also some irregular distances.

The race comprises a 1000m swim, 51k bike and 11k trail run - and over 1,200 triathletes entered.

Kevin was 13th in his age group (50-59) with a time of 3:03:56 and Richard Thompson finished in a time of 3:29:05.

Lastly two very experienced members took off to Lanzarote to take part in Ironman Lanzarote.

Not only did they have to face the challenge of this long distance race (3.8k swim, 180k bike, 42.2k run) but they also had to contend with the weather conditions – high temperatures and strong winds.

Keith Edwards was 6th in his age group (50-54) in a time of 11:44:52 and Greg Ashley finished in 13:38:01.
