Great start to the season
Team Jewson-MI Racing-Polypipe’s star lady triathlete Sam Anderson, has started her 2014 season with a bang.
The 2013 European and British Triathlon Champion, competed in the Eaton Dorney Durathlon at Cambridge on Sunday, using the event as training for bigger events later in the season and testing her form, following a tough winter’s training in the gym.
Samantha, a former member of Rugby Triathlon Club and Rugby Sportswoman of the Year finalist, finished a brilliant 3rd overall. After the first 5 mile run section she was in 7th position. This was followed with a brilliant cycling section, in which she was 2nd fastest and moved up to 2nd place overall, and on the final 5km run she was overtaken by only one other competitor, who happened to be the World Champion. The event was won by a full time professional athlete. There were 500 competitors. A fantastic performance, against some of the world’s best. What a start to the season!
