RUGBY GOLF CLUB
On Friday, Rugby Golf Club held their annual presentation and dinner in the clubhouse. Among the many trophy winners were Paul Godding, who received the Club Champion’s Trophy and Steve Hamp, who made an emotional speech on receiving the Pete Reynolds Celebration of Life Vase.
n On Wednesday Rugby Ladies played their last EWGA 18-hole Medal competition of the season, in conjunction with a 14-hole Club Medal. The winner of the EWGA Medal was Sandra Brazier with a net 71 and Sue Jones took 2nd place with a net 72. The winner of the 14-hole Medal was Linda Ollivant with a net 53.6, followed by Sandra Brazier with a net 53.7, and 3rd was Carol O’Neil with a net 53.9; a close result.
n Senior golfers from Rugby’s Monday, Wednesday, Friday club, known as the Trogs, dedicated their competition on Friday to Children-in-Need. The matchplay competition between teams from the North, South, Midlands and the Rest of the World was won by the Midlands team captained by Keith Mills, whose inspired team selection and planning proved too much for the others.
A sum of £138 was raised by the event, a total which it is hoped to improve upon next year by involving more participants.
