News from Draycote Water

This week at Draycote Water has been a mixed bag with some unseasonal winds hampering conditions. On the days when we have had the better conditions the lake has produced yet again, some cracking fish. James Row recorded a rainbow for 9lb, C. Grainger recorded a 8lb 10oz rainbow, but stealing the show was Mr C Gee with a superb 10lb fish, his first ever trout ! The week saw 11 fish recorded over 6lb, and Mr R Wilson weighed in six fish for 24lb 3oz.

Fish are now being seen feeding on the surface going into the evening with some prolific caenis and buzzer hatches occurring. Sedges are also now starting to show. With warmer weather forecast, the fly hatches will inevitably increase, as will the fish activity in response to it.
