British Motocross Championship comes to Mallory Park

THE 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship jumps into action at Mallory Park on Sunday March 21st with some of the highest-flying riders in the world racing for victory in what is guaranteed to be a great day out for families and petrol-heads alike.

Motocross is Formula One racing off-road with 250cc and 450cc engines powering ultra-lightweight motorcycles with so much suspension they can ride through, under or jump over just about anything in their way. Nothing is as fast or dramatic to watch as a well ridden motocross bike and in this second round of the British Championship all the riders will be up to speed and determined to win, ensuring lots of action.

Mallory Park has hosted the British round of the World Motocross Championship for the last two-years and has an excellent reputation as one of the best circuits in the UK, a fast flowing track with big jumps and close spectator viewing with plenty of family friendly facilities.

The racing will be intense with a Superpole F1/World Superbike style qualifying session sorting the start gate and then three quick-fire 20-minute races for both the MX1 and MX2 classes, giving the crowds plenty to get excited about.

Reigning Maxxis ACU British Motocross Champion Brad Anderson will headline the event as he tries to defend his crown. He has raced at the circuit in the past and rates it, although the big jumps are not normally his favourite sort of track. He said: "I like Mallory Park and I am looking forward to racing there; I was lying fifth in the GP last year when I suffered a big crash and ended up 12th. It's a good challenging track."

Mallory Park General Manager John Ward said: "This is the first time the British Motocross Championship has come to Mallory Park and we are expecting a fantastic event with lots of big jumps, hard overtaking and super-fast action.

"Motocross is a great family spectator sport, there is always something going on and the Mallory Park track is well confined so that you can see most of the action from wherever you stand. On the same day there will be a New Era motorcycle road race on the circuit as well and spectators will get the chance to watch bikes at more than 160mph – all for no extra charge. It'll be a great day, so bring the family and try something different from visiting garden centres and shopping malls, this is real excitement."

Tickets on the gate cost 20 for adults and 5 for under 14s – but you can buy discounted 18 tickets from www.mallorypark.co.uk in advance of the event. For further details and to keep up-to-date with the action and the eight-round series visit www.mxgb.eu.
