Was 2013 a good year for you and your sports club? Rugby’s annual awards will again recognise outstanding achievements and dedication - and nominations for worthy winners are now being invited.

Rugby Borough Council is organising the awards for the 19th time, supported by the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby FM to highlight the wealth of sporting talent in the town.

The deadline for entries is today (Friday) and the presentations will be held at the Benn Hall on Wednesday, March 5.

There are again nine categories, honouring both success on the field and commitment behind the scenes: The Mark Gallagher Memorial Award for Coach of the Year; Club of the Year; ‘Unsung Hero Volunteer’; Lifetime Achievement Award; Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year; The Lion Geoff Thompson Young Volunteer of the Year and The Simon Warwood Memorial Award for Young Team of the Year.

There are also ten Excellence in Sport awards for u18s competing at national level, which include £100 towards equipment and training.
