Only a few jabs and upper cuts could stand between promising Rugby boxer Connor Hannifin and a history -making achievement for the town.
Following his semi-final win against Connor Tudsbury in the National ABA Schoolboy Championships he now faces the biggest fight of his young life in the final in Liverpool in early March. Should he win, he will be the first boy from Rugby to have ever gained such an elevated boxing title.
In the semi-final, which Connor won by a unanimous decision, he dictated the pace of the contest from the outset.
In the first two rounds he impressed the crowd with some educated boxing. Tudsbury came out in the third like a freight train, looking for a knockout, but Connor rained some rapid blows to the head and body to keep control and win the bout
