Stockton 316-6 Barby 170-8
Barby entertained Stockton at the BCG for the first league home game. Stockton batting first and scored quickly throughout their innings, with just Steff Stipanovic 1-57 of 15 over’s keeping it tight. Stockton’s innings was dominated by 121 off 84 balls by Owen Edwards and 57 by Terry Cooper.
Rory Long taking the most wickets and finishing with 3-102. Stockton finished on 316-6.
Captain Joel Gleghorn was disappointed with the fact that Barby spilled several important catch’s that could and should have made all the difference.
In reply Barby got off to a poor start and were 5 down for 50, Steve Ward 4-46 doing the damage. Barby then dug in and Lyndon Slassor 38 and Will Sinclair 24 NO, were the main stay in keeping Stockton at bay, finishing on 170-8 and settling for a losing Draw.
n The Second XI travelled to Stockton who batted first and some forceful batting saw the hosts rack up 243-9 led by Greg Campbell’s 91. Barby were not helped when bowler Adam Shay pulled up lame, when walking onto the pitch before the start. The pick of the Barby attack was skipper Nigel Hancock who belatedly brought himself on and bowled 9 over’s for just 11 runs taking 3 wickets.
In reply some tight bowling by Stockton saw Barby 23-3 early on before Dan Dury 33 and Barry Taylor 37 NO, they batted for 28 overs and helped Barby to 132-6 and a losing draw.
n The friendly XI entertained Napton on Sunday, batting first Napton scored 176-6 led by 54 NO from J Alsopp, Barby’s best bowler was Rory Long 2-33. in reply Barby knocked of the runs finishing on 177-5, led by a fine 80 NO by Will Sinclair.
