Two in top spot, one second and two fourth going into 2015

In another brilliant weekend of league rugby, the town’s teams continued their excellent run of games.

In Midlands 2 West (South) at Fenley Field leaders Old Laurentians beat Nuneaton Old Eds 34-10 to stay one point ahead of Newbold, who enjoyed a 64-0 win at Old Leamingtonians.

In Midlands 3 East (South) Rugby St Andrews upset league leaders Oundle’s unbeaten run since October, winning 28-27 at John Tomalin Way. It leaves Saints fourth in the table and Oundle slip into second spot.

In Midlands 4 West (South) table top clash, leaders Rugby Lions continued their unbeaten run with a 21-3 win over Evesham, who now slip to third behind Claverdon.

And Rugby Welsh had an excellent 41-15 win at Birmingham Exiles to go fourth in Midlands 5 West (South).

Reports from all these games are in this week’s Advertiser, which will be out a day early, on Christmas Eve.
