Winning weekend for Lions, Newbold and Saints

Rugby Welsh earned their first victory of the season in Midlands 5 West (South), beating Coventry Technical 36-17 away.

In the same division leaders Lions made it eight wins out of eight and a maximum 40 points when they beat Keresley 39-7, also in an away game.

There were no such celebrations for Old Laurentians in Midlands 1 West, the highest division contested by Rugby sides. They travelled to third placed Hereford and went down 47-19, not helping their bid to climb out of relegation danger.

Second in Midlands 2 East (South), Newbold had a good win over fourth-placed local rivals Lutterworth, 34-22 at Parkfield Road.

At Ashlawn Road, Rugby St Andrews, mid-table in Midlands 3 East (South), beat struggling Brackley 43-3.
