Trip to Hinckley with sausages and cider!
Hinckley away, 1pm kick off today (Saturday 23rd) sees the Lions take the field for the first time for the 2014-15 campaign, writes the Advertiser’s new Rugby Lions correspondent Rob Dignum.
The fixture coincides with the Towns now infamous Sausage and Cider Festival and promises to be a fantastic day out: rugby, food and ale… heaven! On the field, Hinckley will prove a tough opposition having added many new faces to their squad over the summer; alongside this the Lions are missing a few familiar faces from last season through unavailability; we will however be giving it our best shot and opportunities will be given to new faces to stake a claim for regular selection.
Next week sees the Lions 1sts and Development sides take on Dunlop 1st and 2nds respectively at Webb Ellis Road, 1pm and 3pm kick offs.
Dunlop currently reside a league higher than Lions and will again prove tough opposition. They field three senior sides and a Colts each week and have high ambitions of promotion this season also.
Coaches Walton and Dignum however are pleased to be able to field two competitive sides that will no doubt give their all.
