RUGBY: Four wins out of five

League success for OLs, Newbold, Saints and Lions

It was another good weekend for Rugby’s rugby teams, with four more league wins and only Rugby Welsh beaten.

OLs and Newbold kept up their challenge for the Midlands 2 West (South) title. Leaders OLs won 31-10 at Spartans and Newbold won 32-3 at Pinley. They stay level on points, first and second in the table.

In Midlands 3 East (South) Rugby St Andrews are up to third place after their one-point win at Vipers, 15-16. Rushden & Higham top the table on 55 points, with Vipers second on 47 and Saints now just two points behind on 45.

In Midlands 4 West (South) Lions made it 12 wins out of 12 to go 13 points clear of second-placed Claverdon.

And at Keresley Rugby Welsh went down 20-5. Welsh are now fourth and their hosts fifth in Midlands 5 West (South).
