Newbold at home tomorrow - OLs, Saints, Lions and Welsh away

Old Laurentians and Newbold resume their league campaigns tomorrow as they keep up the battle at the top of the table. Level on points, league leaders Old Laurentians have a trip to struggling Leamington, while second-placed Newbold host Nuneaton Old Edwardians at Parkfield Road.

The two have just one more game after that before they meet in what could well be the title decider on April 11. There’s just one automatic promotion place from Midlands 2 West (South), with the runner-up going into the play-offs.

In Midlands 3 East (South) Rugby St Andrews are holding onto third spot, but after narrow defeats in their last two local derby games with Daventry and Long Buckby, chasing teams are closing the gap. This week Saints are away at eighth-placed Northampton BBOB.

The Midlands 4 West (South) leaders Rugby Lions have a tough trip to third-placed Claverdon, who are level on points with second-placed Evesham, but have played one more game. Lions have a comfortable cushion at the top with 69 points to the chasers’ 54.

Fifth-placed Rugby Welsh also face a very difficult game in Midlands 5 West (South) when they travel to second-placed Birmingham Civil Service. BCS are level on points with leaders Alcester, with a game in hand.
