Extra-time victory at Long Buckby to win RFU Midlands Junior Vase final

In front of a huge crowd at Long Buckby, Lions won an incident-packed thrilling game in extra time.

They had fought back from 32-14 down early in the second half and levelled with a sensational last-ditch innovative added-time try by prop Tom Kilburn, followed by a nerveless conversion from wide out by Gareth Bott to give Lions the reprieve of going into extra time.

Bott then kicked the winning score with a penalty in the second minute of extra time and Lions held on for victory.

Lions now have a home semi-final against North champions Goole at Webb Ellis Road on April 19, with the winners of that game earning a place in the national final at Twickenham on Sunday, May 4.
