On Saturday Newbold have a Midlands 1 East league encounter at home (kick-off 2.15pm) to a strong Bugbrooke side before a large enthusiastic crowd of vice presidents. A great opportunity to bounce straight back from last week’s defeat by leaders Bedford Athletic.
A big crowd is also expected at Parkfield Road earlier on Saturday when the 2nd XV take on AEI Rugby in the first round of the Clonmell Cup, as a curtain raiser for the first team game against Bugbrooke. All support is welcome.
Old Laurentians return to the comforts of home with a Midlands 1 East league match against Nottingham side Paviors on Saturday at Fenley Field, Lime Tree Avenue. The visitors sit comfortably in mid-table and have won five and drawn one of their ten league games this season, so will present another stern test for OLs. But with several players expected to return and hopeful that last week’s casualties will have recovered, OLs will be looking to capitalise on home advantage in a bid to boost their meagre points total.
Old Laurentians 3rd XV are scheduled to meet Rugby Welsh in an interesting local derby.
Rugby Lions are offered the opportunity to dust themselves down after last week’s disappointing draw with Southam as they take a break from league action this weekend and look to make amends by welcoming Luton-based side Stockwood Park to Webb Ellis Road in round two of the National Cup draw.
They are in a similar position to Lions in the adjacent East league and will no doubt again be tough to overcome. The game kicks off at the slightly earlier time of 2pm and as ever all support is welcome and needed.
