Victory for Lions in Warwickshire Shield but Newbold beaten in Senior Cup

Lions won their Warwickshire Shield game at Webb Ellis Road on Saturday against Old Leamingtonians, whose first team play three divisions higher in the Midlands league.

They triumphed 42-5 in a game which included a hat-trick for hooker Karl Lawson.

With many first-team regulars away, Newbold’s side to face Spartans included many young and fringe players, who did their club proud despite going down 17-10 in the Warwickshire Senior Cup.

Next week its back to league business as Northampton old Scouts visit Parkfield Road for a 2.15pm kick off.
