It was a good day for Rugby Lions and Newbold in their respective cup competititions on Saturday.

In their RFU Midlands Intermediate Cup quarter-final, Newbold beat Peterborough 51-7 at Parkfield Road. Also through to the semi-finals from their games on Saturday are Bridgnorth (who beat Wellingborough 25-6) and Northampton Old Scouts (who beat Stourbridge Lions 14-11).

At Buxton, Rugby Lions won 24-3 to reach the semi-finals of the RFU Midlands Junior Vase. Also through from their games on Saturday are Cleobury Mortimer (who beat Belper 15-5) and Sileby Town (who beat Ashfield 14-5).

Rugby St Andrews just missed out 17-19 in their RFU Midlands Senior Vase quarter-final, at home to Upton on Severn at John Tomalin Way.
