Youngsters looking forward to first competitive games in new year
Newbold’s ‘minis’ section, just started this season, is thriving and looking forward to their first competitive games at the end of January.
The numbers are now up to around 20 for each Sunday morning session, but they are looking to recruit more.
Minis Chairman Alan Bale said: “We have plenty of room here at Parkfield Road. We’ve had a fantastic response so far, the kids have been superb and feedback from parents is very positive.
“It’s a fabulous environment for children. The kids have come on in leaps and bounds, and most importantly, its been masses of fun!”
Newbold are very keen to expand numbers as they are looking to run U7s and U8s next season. If you are interested, please contact Alan Bale on 07785 712443 or the club on (01788) 565811. Sessions take place on Sunday mornings 10.30am -12 noon, you will be very welcome.
In addition to this, Newbold are launching an U10s after Christmas under the guidance of Gareth Bevan and Lee Dicey, please contact club for full details.
They also field an U12s team run by Iain Cahill. Iain has been involved in all of Newbold’s recent very successful colts sides and is looking for players to join him for training on Sunday mornings, again please contact the club if interested.
The two photographs are from a Sunday morning training session (below) and the presentation of kit night. It was a very memorable evening attended by about 90 parents and children and included a quiz and curry. The young players received their first kit from club captain Nick Walton.
Sponsors included Glenn Bourne, Director at frs staffsolutions, Kev Lee and Chelsea Building Society. Thanks and appreciation to everyone who raised money in a very enjoyable and successful evening. You can see more at Newbold RFC Minis on Facebook.
