Parkfield Road has been busy all summer preparing for the new season, which kicks off this Saturday at 3pm when the first team take on Leamington in the opening league game of Midlands 2 West (South).
Attendence at training has been good since June, the pitches are looking in great shape after decompacting over the close season and, most importantly, the senior squads are looking sharp and ready for action.
The first team squad welcomes several new faces including new signings Nick Walton, Lewis Kirby and Dave Clements with Jos Andrews and Stu Lynch returning after a couple of seasons away.
Hopes are high of another successful season after finishing joint second last year following promotion in 2010/2011 and Midlands Senior Vase Champions.
This year’s campaign kicks off on Saturday with a sponsors lunch prior to the first team game.
Any sponsors looking to become involved in our successful and vibrant club are welcome to join us from 1pm onwards.
The second team squad under the leadership of captain Si Ferris are also looking for a strong showing in Warwickshire League 2 after a very good season last year with the Vets/third team aiming to consolidate their Warwickshire League 3 status in what looks to be a challenging time for them with most of their league opposition made up of second teams.
n Newbold Colts/U19s had their most successful season last year for decades.
Merit Table champions and winners of the Warwickshire Sevens title were achieved in a fantastic year which saw several Colts players featuring in the first team last season, all making valuable contributions.
The youth section now has teams at U16 and U14 with plans to expand to other age groups and hopes are high that these youngsters can go on to emulate the success of the Colts side.
n Newbold RFC welcomes players of all ages to join our friendly, family orientated club.
Come and join us on a Saturday or turn up on Tuesday or Thursday from 6.30pm onwards for senior training or Wednesdays for the youth section.
