Success in Kenilworth festival
For the end to the season Old Laurentian U12s sent teams to festivals at Kenilworth and Stratford upon Avon.
At the Kenilworth festival the team enjoyed success winning five out of five matches against Kenilworth Picts and Celts, Old Leamingtonians, Barker Butts and Berkswell and Balsall, winning the festival handily. The lads played some great rugby in difficult conditions and capped off a terrific season with an impressive set of victories against some very good opposition.
Stratford aimed to make their festival a fun event to showcase how enjoyable rugby can be. Despite the weather, there was a great friendly atmosphere added to by all the coaches wearing fancy dress.
OLs U12s found themselves playing against teams previously unplayed this season - Droitwich, Kings Norton, Stratford 2 and Stratford 1. With a small squad against strong, well drilled opposition, it proved to be a steep learning curve for the OL’s with players adjusting to unfamiliar positions. However they showed great spirit, kept the smile on their faces and enjoyed their rugby. There were moments of brilliance, and some well worked tries. All in all a good days rugby which the team will learn from.
