League victories for Lions, Newbold and Rugby St Andrews too

It was a good weekend for all but one of the Rugby sides, with just Rugby Welsh missing out on league points on their trip to Trinity Guild in Midlands 5 West (South). They went down 26-18 and, despite some close results, are struggling to climb out of bottom spot in the table.

In the same division leaders Rugby Lions beat second placed Warwickians 54-3, including four tries by no.8 Ben Husthwaite. Warwickians are now third, overtaken by Birmingham Exiles.

In Midlands One Old Laurentians built on last week’s success by beating Silhillians 16-10. This away win lifts them to third from bottom in the table.

Newbold maintained their second spot in Midlands 2 East (South), winning 35-14 against Olney at Parkfield Road. Newbold are 12 points behind leaders Leighton Buzzard.
