Old Laurentians welcome budding young players

OLs Open Day

This Saturday, (October 1), Old Laurentians are holding an Open Day for young rugby players at Under 16 and Colts level as part of their plans to launch teams in both age groups.

To be staged at their Fenley Field, Lime Tree Avenue ground in Bilton and starting at 2pm, the event will include attractions like rodeo rugby ball and bungee jumping as well as coaching and touch rugby sessions.

OLs’ well equipped gym will also be open for any young players who want to try out the facilities there.

They can also take in the Old Laurentian 2nd XV game against local rivals Rugby Lions Crusaders, which will kick off at 3pm and the attractions will also include refreshments and a barbecue.

OLs have a management and coaching structure in place for the new teams and a number of players have already joined the club.

The last Colts team run by OLs was highly successful and a good number of that team went on to play 1st team rugby, and in several cases still feature.

The Junior section of the club currently runs up to Under 15 level and OLs objective is to have a full structure in place to ensure a successful transition from junior to senior rugby for young players.

So all budding young rugby players, regardless of experience and ability, will be very welcome.

Come along and see for yourself the facilities at a friendly and progressive club.
