Adam Shaw looking forward to training with Leicester for next two years
Talented Princethorpe College rugby star Adam Shaw has been offered a contract at Leicester Tigers placing him in the top 88 U16 players in the country.
Following an interview at Leicester’s Oval Park the Year 11 student will start his two year tenure on July 7. Shaw will board in Leicester and train for 48 weeks of the year with the hope of being kept on by the prestigious Midlands Squad.
The 16-year-old wing has been a part of the Tigers EPDG since 2011 and has excelled in this competitive rugby environment. His speed and agility, Shaw has a 200 metre sprint pb of 23.2, sets him apart from the field but Princethorpe College Director of Rugby Jon Fitt has also noted a change in Adam’s approach to the game,
“Adam has matured over the last year and played some superb games for our 1st XV. This season he has scored 17 tries over 13 games which in itself shows what a force he is. We are delighted that he has achieved this incredible honour. His next focus is now the England U16 programme where he will be representing the Midlands in the Divisional Festival at Broadstreet RFC from February.”
Adam described the news in his characteristic level headed way: “I was pretty calm about the whole thing and was prepared to accept whatever the outcome. I’m obviously really pleased about the decision and looking forward to playing some quality Midlands games in the next few weeks.”
