Newbold stay top with another five-point win

Newbold on Avon RFC made it maximum points, with four bonus-point wins from four games, to stay top of RFU Midlands 1 East on Saturday. Away at Market Rasen & Louth they won 36-7.

While all the other first teams were without a league fixture, Rugby St Andrews travelled to Dunstablians and just missed out 22-19 to a 78th minute converted try in the RFU Senior Vase.

At home Saints’ 2nds were beaten 22-0 by a strong Silhillians outfit in the Warwickshire 2nd teams Cup, despite a gutsy performance.

Rugby Welsh had a friendly with Aylestone Athletic, going down 32-7.
