Princethorpe student Paddy to train with Sevens Development Squad

Talented Princethorpe College rugby player Paddy Mills has received the news of a lifetime; that he is to train with the Welsh National 7s development squad.

Usually sporting a number 7 shirt the First Team College player will be training with six other hopefuls drawn from a series of talent spotting tournaments held over the summer and autumn. Playing for the Welsh Exiles Paddy caught the eye of the coaches whose aim with the 7’s is to expose players to the potential of playing at World Series and European series level. He will attend his first coached session at the WRU Centre of Excellence in Cardiff on Monday, December 16th.

Currently in his second year of A Levels at Princethorpe College Paddy described the news: “It sort of passed me by to begin with as I had just been to Cardiff to have my University interview there to read Medicine. Not until the next day did it fully dawn on me what the invitation meant.”

With his sights set on doubling up a career in medicine and professional sport Paddy is game on when it comes to commitment and application.

“I want to return home to Cardiff, and hopefully by being there at Uni will allow me to combine this with my rugby playing.”

Princethorpe College Master in Charge of Rugby, Jon Fitt went on to explain: “Paddy is also waiting to hear back from Midlands’ selectors. He has had a busy few weeks. Never do his own personal standards drop on the pitch. He is a team player who executes speed, strength and intelligence in every game that he plays. We are thrilled that he has been offered this prestigious invitation.”
