Results round-up as teams go into festive break

Newbold notched up an great resultaway from home on Saturday to stay third in Midlands 1 East. They beat fourth-placed Kettering 18-17 for their tenth win in 14 games.

Bedford Athletic lead the table on 64 points, with Derby second on 57. Newbold have 49 and Kettering 45.

At the other end of the table, Old Laurentians were beaten 33-10 at Huntingdon & District, a much closer result than their first encounter in September.

In Midlands 3 West (South) Rugby Lions won well at Webb Ellis Road, with a 73-14 scoreline over Harbury. Lions are fourth, but the top of the table is still very tight, with just three points between the top four teams. Old Coventrians have 45 points, Ledbury and Evesham 43 and Lions 42.

In the East competition, Rugby St Andrews produced a good win 29-19 over Northampton BBOB. The sides are sixth and seventh in the division.

In Midlands 5 West (South) Rugby Welsh had to settle for a losing bonus point against a well-drilled Birmingham Exiles, going down 17-10. Welsh stay third in the league, two points ahead of Exiles in fourth.
