On a week end that saw Newbold Colts beat Nuneaton, arguably the best U18 side in Warwickshire, it’s great to know that the minis and juniors are thriving just as much as the youth teams at Newbold RFC.
Through the support of a large number of coaches, they now require more players at all levels, and any parents who would like to get involved off the pitch, even if it’s for a couple of hours a week.
U11s: In only their second game, the U11s took to the field against a well established team. It proved to be a very challenging morning against a strong side.
The lads all did themselves proud, never giving up and fought on and on. We saw many of our lads getting accustomed to the physical aspects of the game and they grew stronger and stronger.
Very positive comments were made with our boys demonstrating a good grasp of the rules and positioning in both attack and defence. More solid foundations and a growing confidence displayed in every member of the squad. A credit to your club.
U8s: Newbold had eight heroes playing at this level against at least a squad of 16, so double our number, so to win one of the three games was a great achievement.
Newbold are really proud of the boys – Charlie, Josh, Tim, Jake, Alfie, Zac, Bruno and Nathan, who all performed fantastically well. Man of the match had to be Tim, who was difficult to get anywhere near when he was in full flight. Well done boys.
U7s: In only their second ever fixture Newbold U7s produced a brilliant display of team work and fantastic rugby to win in both games.
With ages ranging from five to seven year-olds it shows just how far they’ve come as a group since September, scoring 27 tries over the two matches, most importantly every single player touching down and enjoying the morning’s rugby. Harbury were fantastic hosts which allowed both teams to play the game in the right spirit and with big smiles on their faces too. Jack, Cayden,Ethan, Sean, Leon and Olivia made parents and coaches very proud. Well done all.
Thanks to everyone that travelled to Harbury - players, parents and coaches.
If you are a boy or girl aged five or older, or a parent that has a few spare hours each week and would like to get involved in one of our teams, please contact Alan Bale on 07785 712443- you would be very welcome.
