In what has already been a record breaking season for Rugby Town, the 2012-13 squad will be looking to surpass one of their own impressive achievements this Easter.
A victory at Thatcham on Saturday followed by another at home to Aylesbury on Easter Monday would set another record for consecutive Southern League wins during their 30 year residence within the structure.
Valley’s nine game maximum return between November 6 and January 1 overtook the previous bests in 1984 and 1987, and after the midweek success over Beaconsfield, Dave Stringer’s side are up to eight again.
Both upcoming opponents are in the bottom half of the Evostik Southern League Central standings, and both have already been comfortably despatched by Town in the reverse fixtures earlier in the season.
Thatcham sit 18th in the table, with Aylesbury five places higher after they ended an eight game run without a victory by thumping the division’s whipping-boys Woodford 7-0 on Tuesday.
A David Kolodynski hat-trick helped Rugby clinch a 4-2 triumph at home to Thatcham back in November, and along with Alex Gudger, Kolodynski was also on-target a month ago at the Affinity Stadium in the 2-0 victory against Aylesbury – as Valley continued to confirm their ever-increasing promotion credentials.
