This was going to be a big seven days for the whole football club as the Seniors went for promotion the Youth Team went for the league title and the Under U21’s could secure the league and cup double.

It all started last Thursday with the U21’s trotting out to face Worcester a full time academy outfit who have caused Rugby a few problems in their league games.

It was Town out of the blocks from the start with playing football made difficult by the dry bobbley pitch. An early corner was met by Nic Whittam which went wide and then a great run from Henry Toro down the right hand side seen him cut in and fire over.

Worcester then started to come into the game more and had a couple of chances to open the scoring. But it was Town who did after 25 mins after good work from Daniel Pritchard led to a corner. From it Nic Whittam soared above everyone and planted a firm header in the corner. 5 mins later it was 2. Callum Wills beating the offside trap to tuck away in the corner after an inch perfect through ball from Tommy Glasscoe.

The second half was a dull affair with nerves from both teams not wanting to make mistakes but the next goal was vital and it was Town who got it after a magnificent save from the Worcester keeper Ryan Coyne hit a pearl of a half volley into the top corner of the net. Game over cup Won and now to the league where on Saturday Town beat Bustleholme 11-0 to win the Central U21’S Division.

Must mention that Tom Rawings who scored 5 on Saturday became the top goal scorer within the Midland Combination League with 42 goals from 21 appearances.

Town now go into a overall Champions Game against Sutton Coalfield (at Sutton) on a date to be agreed.
