This week’s report starts with the result from Dog Lane Fishery’s Bag’em Matchbaits Silver League Individual .

The day was cool and dry with a splash of sun at Dog Lane this week as 34 anglers kicked off the latest Bag’em Matchbaits sponsored Sunday Silver league for individuals.

By all accounts Rich Wills and Gil Corns were catching from the off, but neither knew they had gone head-to-head until the end of the match. Gil was pipped into second place by Rich with just 13 extra ounces. Third place went to Rob Cash on peg ten who used his ‘game over’ rigs to good effect catching some of the bonus orfe that now run to 4lb.

Section winners in both sections were only a few pegs apart with bonus orfe in B section proving to be the saviours.

Andy Judd was the happy angler that caught this weeks biggest perch of 2lb 2oz from peg 2 and went home £93 better off.

Despite the low water levels there were no blanks, but the weigh in showed who needs a fish identikit next match, as a number of crucians and small koi found their way into keepnets.

Full result: 1st - Rich Wills (Daventry AC) peg38 12lb 4.5oz roach on pinkie; 2nd Gil Corns (Daventry AC) peg14 12lb 1oz roach on caster squatt; 3rd - Rob Cash (Rugby tackle) peg10 10lb 6oz roach orfe worm caster; section A1 - Ivan mills (Daventry Ac) peg12 8lb 3.25oz roach; section A2 - Keith Haynes (Daventry AC) peg 8 7lb 15.5oz roach pinkie; section B1 - Dave West (Potters Ac) peg 22 5lb 11oz orfe/roach; section B2 - Tom Clish (Rugby Tackle) peg28 4lb 15.25oz orfe/ roach.

The next match in two weeks time will be the first of the Bag’em pairs. Draw will be at the fishery.

n Fourteen anglers from Spring Street A.C. fished the Marsh Lakes at Bishop’s Bowl which is fast becoming a popular fishery.

The winner was Brian Hodgetts with 44 lb - a smashing catch of small carp and a few silvers on pellet.

Second was Robin Smith with 34 lb 12 oz, which included a fantastic catch of tench to double figures, all on caster and maggot.

Third was Colin Clarke with 30 lb, again a good mix of carp and a few silvers, all on maggot feeder.

Finally in fourth was Nathan Granger with 22 lb 12 oz, again a good mix of carp and silvers on maggot. With reasonable back-up weights a total of 220 lb was caught.

The next match is on November 13 at Barby Banks Marshes. Call Jim as usual on (01788)570228.

n The Rugby Disabled and Pensioners were on the canal at the New Inn last tuesday and Jim Saunders led the field at the final whistle with a nice catch of bream and perch taken on maggot and bread weighing 6lb 10oz 12dr.

Runner-up was Fred Johnson with 4lb 1oz 5dr of skimmers and perch taken on the bread and worm.
