The former X Factor finalist was speaking upon her return home from a global tour to promote her latest single Sax, and the new album - Love, Sax and Flashbacks - taking in the likes of Germany, France and even Mexico.

The attention for Fleur now turns to her performance at Ricoh for the opening day of the MTV event on Friday, May 27.

“I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to play the first music festival of the summer at the Ricoh Arena,” said Fleur, who wowed the nation with her version of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk on the X Factor back in 2014.

“I’ve heard the likes of Take That, Pink and Coldplay have played here before, so I’m honoured to be able to perform on the same stage as them.

“Between now and the event I’ll be spending long hours in rehearsals doing a lot of choreography, so the crowd can expect high energy and a lot of dancing.”

Having performed to capacity crowds at the O2 Arena and Wembley in the past, the 28-year-old Londoner also revealed what will be going on backstage before she entertains the Ricoh Arena crowd.

She said: “I always get a little nervous before I go on stage, but I always try to transfer the nerves into adrenaline and get really hyped up as I’m about to go on.

“Anybody that sees me backstage will see me doing a lot of weird stretches and strange sounds to warm up my voice – I’m a bit of a crazy person in the dressing room because I’ve got to limber up for the dancing and not just the singing.

“I do a lot of squats, stretches on the floor, and jump up and down to get my arms and legs warmed up.”

The Sax star will be performing alongside the likes of Sigala, Tom Odell and the Kaiser Chiefs, which is a far cry from when the pop star last visited the city.

She added: “The last time I visited Coventry would have been during the many years spent performing at student gigs in nightclubs hidden behind a DJ booth.”

“Be prepared to party hard when I get on the stage because I’ll need a lot of energy from the crowd.”
