ONE of the brightest and most promising opera singers in the UK today will be performing at a village community centre near Rugby.

Opera singer Kirsty Michele Anderson, who specialises in classical songs, will perform at the Churchover Community Centre on Saturday. It will be her second visit to the small village to the north of Rugby.

One of the organisers, Julie Mitchell, said: “This young lady is absolutely fabulous. She is recognised as one of the brightest and most popular young opera singers in the UK today and is looking forward to her visit.”

Kirsty has performed at venues including the O2 in London and Birmingham’s Festival Hall. Her programme will be a mixture of songs from musicals, love songs and popular arias.

Kirsty, 20, from Hinckley, has already won many awards including winning the Open Mic UK competion, beating more than 10,000 entrants.

Originally self-taught, the singer began her musical career at the age of six. In 2007 she joined the Stanley Opera Company where she was placed directly in the spotlight. Since then, she has regularly performed with this company to large crowds resulting in critical acclaim.

But it was in 2009 when Kirsty’s career catapulted, after she took home the title of the winner of Open Mic UK 2009. Since then she’s been featured by various radio stations across the UK and has been performing at popular regional and national events.

She has recorded with established British dance DJ Darren Styles on his album ‘Feel the Pressure’.

She’s now working on new material and re-inventing the classical music scene. Her first album ‘Introducing – Kirsty Michele Anderson’ was released in May this year and can be bought from all major music download sites worldwide including Amazon and itunes. The album will also be on sale before and after her performance at Churchover Community Centre. For concert tickets, which cost £5, call (01788) 833089.
