JUST how many accidental deaths can there be in one house? Find out amid the confusion and laughter of the latest play from the Dunchurch Festival Players.

Beyond a Joke, a comedy by Derek Benfield, is the latest production coming to the stage in Dunchurch this month.

Sally’s boyfriend, Geoff, is staying the weekend (again) and arrives with exciting news about the house he has found to share with her.

Unfortunately things start to unravel as he accidentally overhears a conversation between Sally’s parents and completely misinterprets the series of accidents which have befallen the luckless family home.

He believes they are plotting the demise of the new vicar, who is coming for tea – today! Confusion reigns with the arrival of a dippy aunt and then his own parents and the body count begins to mount.

Carol Seager from the Dunchurch Festival Players, said: “There are lots of laughs throughout and a very interesting stage set, so patrons will enjoy another fun evening as this enthusiastic and accomplished group of comedy specialists take to the stage at Dunchurch Village Hall.”

Beyond a Joke will be on stage at Dunchurch Village Hall on Friday, September 23, Saturday, September 24, Wednesday, September 28, Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1.

Performances start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 and concessions £6.

There will be a special gala night on Tuesday, September 27 at 7pm. Tickets for this include £16 including dinner. Tickets are available to buy from Wanda Fashions in The Green, Dunchuch or by calling (01788) 522021. For more information visit www.dunchurchevents.org.
