Aladdin impresses young reviewer

Aladdin, The Priory Theatre, Kenilworth. On until December 30. Call the box office on 863334.

THIS year’s traditional family panto at the Priory Theatre, Kenilworth, is Aladdin.

It tells the story about a young man called Aladdin who falls in love with a princess. His ‘long-lost uncle Abanaza’ takes him on a quest to find a magic lamp but will Aladdin’s family get their ‘promised’ riches and is Abanaza really who he says he is?

I really liked Aladdin’s mum, Widow Twankey, who did Gangnam Style when ‘she’ first appeared. She was very funny and, along with Aladdin’s brother Wishee Washee, really livened up the show.

The performance was well-acted and the singing was good by all the cast. My favourite part was when a little boy from the audience shouted out a ‘Abanaza!’ every time he thought they pronounced his name wrong. There was lots of audience participation like all good pantos should have and I really, really enjoyed the whole show.

The Priory is a very nice place, that is inviting and welcomes you in. You should go and see this show. Ten out of ten.
