Barnstorming comedy heads to Leamington

THERE will be triple the laughs at the Spa Centre in Leamington next week with the return of the Barnstormers Comedy Night.

The popular event will return to the Spa Centre on Tuesday night with resident compere Kevin Precious introducing three acts from the London comedy circuit.

Critically acclaimed Philberto has established himself as a headline act and is a regular at Jongleurs, The Comedy Store and The Comedy Cafe, as well as building a strong following at university and club gigs throughout the country.

He will be on stage for 20 minutes with his energetic and hard hitting style of comedy.

Philberto will be followed by the laid back Chris Stokes who adopts an erudite turn of phrase and witty observations of observational comedy.

Headlining the night will be the “wild and wonderful” Pierre Hollins, who claims the only other ‘proper jobs’ he’s ever had were washing dishes in the House of Commons, labouring on a gas pipe line in the Middle East, and teaching drama to the mentally ill.

He has been popular on the comedy circuit for many years, and has headlined at clubs throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In his early days he worked as a support act to Lenny Henry and Rory Bremner, appeared in the West End with Rita Rudner, and toured with The Flying Pickets, and Willie Rushton & Barry Cryer.

In his early days his act included acrobats and audience abuse and was once described as far fetched and semi dangerous, but he has since reinvented his act, in which he finds himself wielding an electric squash racket and taking on a conversational style complete with songs.

He covers topics from love and hate, to sex and politics with a totally original voice, delivering his material with charm and irrelevance.

Barnstormers will start at the Spa Centre on Tuesday November 1 at 7.45pm with tickets from £7.50. Call 334418 or go online.
