The Oxford graduate and son of journalist Peter Snow will share with his audience his passion for historic battle castles, his love of railways and his need to understand the past.

Speaking to the Courier ahead of the talk, Dan said: “Castles reflect our brutal and war-like past. They are absolutely fascinating. They have shaped our landscape and how our community came to be how it is.

“Many events in history occured around castles, including of course the Norman conquest.”

Dan, the resident historian on BBC One’s the One Show, is currently working on developing apps to enhance history education and share knowledge quickly with people from across the world. He said: “I’m also working on a project about going down the Grand Canyon in 19th century boats, as well as another about the British in India. It never stops.”

An Evening With Dan Snow takes place at Stratford Civic Hall on November 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets £18.50. Call 01789 207100 or visit www.stratfordliteraryfestival.co.uk
