Ex Cathedra perform by candlelight at Leamington church

MUSIC dating back hundreds of years will be performed by a leading Midlands choir on Thursday as part of a two-part series of Christmas concerts by candlight.

Ex Cathedra’s programme, which they will sing at Holy Trnity church in Beauchamp Avenue, Leamington, on Thursday, will include music from the 12th, 16th and 17th centuries.

There will also be familiar carols and Czech and African ones too.

Richard Phillips, of Leamington Music the concert’s organiser, said: “Two years ago Ex Cathedra filled Holy Trinity Church and bookings are coming on really well for this year.

“This mix of music and readings in the special atmosphere that candlelight creates is very special.

“A fascinating collection of readings have been chosen, which naturally includes the Bible but also has contributions from Jeanette Winterson, Kathleen Raine and Dickens.”

Leamington Music is putting on asecond cocnert at St Marys church in Warwick on Tuesday December 11 when who was brought up and educated in Leamington, brings his world famous Choir from New College Oxford to the area for the first time.

Tickets for both concerts include mulled wine and mince pies and are available from the Bridge House Theatre in Warwick.
