Leamington photographer’s bright and strong images

BRIGHT, saturated colour, strong shapes and repetition feature in the images of Leamington photographer David Chantrey.

Also a recurring theme in his work is abstraction - through the selection of small details.

David, who regularly exhibits at the Leamington Contemporary Arts Fair, started taking photographs for fun, with a camera he inherited from his father that was so old it had moving needles, manual focus and a manual film advance.

Using more modern equipment these days, David likes to take pictures in Leamington - particularly the more brightly coloured parts - while he occasionally photographs people as well.

David often has a stand at the arts fair, which takes place in Livery Street and in front of the town hall once a month and more often over the Christmas period.

The next one takes place on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and, as well as stalls exhibiting and selling artwork, there will be live art demonstrations, musical performances and food samples on offer.

Artists wishing to take part can hire a stall with prices starting at £48 or £35 for half a stall.
