Sullivan’s composition without Gilbert performed by Warwickshire musicians

A rarely performed piece of music with an Irish theme features in a St Patrick’s Day concert by the Spires Youth Orchestra at 7pm today (Sunday).

Symphony in E was written by Arthur Sullivan - perhaps best known for his collaboration with W.S. Gilbert on a range of English comic operas that have never lost their appeal in more than 100 years. Sullivan’s Irish piece will be performed at King Henry VIII School in Coventry. Tickets cost £8 (or £5 concessions) on the door.
