Summer schools at the Belgrade in Coventry

THE BELGRADE Theatre is offering two week-long Summer Schools during this year’s holidays for young people aged eight to sixteen to develop and share their theatre skills.

Each course will include a series of workshops and rehearsals in which the young people will explore movement, voice and acting techniques with creative theatre practitioners from the Belgrade Theatre.

Throughout the week the group will work together to create their own devised piece of theatre, which they will perform in front of family and friends on the last day.

The first summer school will run from today (Monday) from 10am to 4.30pm, closely followed by the second course from Monday August 20 to Friday August 24 from 10am to 4.30pm.

Each week will be a different programme so it is possible for children to attend both.

Janthi Mills, general manager at the Belgrade Theatre, said: “Last year’s Summer School was a huge success, so much so that we’ve had to an extra week this year!

“All of the children that attended seemed to really enjoy it and we had some great feedback from the parents who all agreed that it was a great way for young people to learn some new skills, meet new people and ultimately build their confidence.”
