Edward Taylor and John Graham’s Pardon Me, Prime Minister opens at the Barrow Road venue on Monday and runs until Saturday August 31.

The Prime Minister (John Fenner) and the Chancellor (John Nichols) are preparing a severely puritanical Budget, taxing gambling, night clubs and even bingo halls out of existence.

But on the eventful afternoon before its presentation shocks are in store.

A total stranger is intent on removing most of her clothes in the PM’s office and her dress ends up on his wife (Linda Connor). Then two other ladies also appear in a somewhat less-than-fully clothed state and declarations are made that question the PM’s suitability. Who better than the Prime Minister’s ever attentive principle private secretary to handle the situation? Unfortunately he has a personal private crisis of his own.

Director David Draper, who describes the show as a “delicious farce”, selected this play to share his love of comedy and farce. He said: “An entertaining and mirthful evening is on the cards for all.”

The show starts at 7.30pm each evening. Tickets cost £7 to £8.50. Call 856548.
