Aunty Agatha’s goes from online to a Talisman shop

Aunty Agatha’s, which sells personalised clothing, educational products and living aids for children and adults with disabilities and learning difficulties, was originally an online business before moving into their first official premises at 14 Talisman Square.

The business was founded by Catherine Colby-Johnson on the back of 12 years working for Coventry City Council.

Catherine worked with children with learning difficulties and found it difficult to obtain supplies to help them, not only with their general well-being, but toys and educational products tailored for their specific needs.

Catherine said: “It is great to move into Talisman shopping centre. I worked for Coventry City Council for 12 years, and spent most of my time with children with disabilities and that allowed me to build up a great deal of experience.

“It was frustrating as we couldn’t get them the necessities they really needed, and that gave me the idea for the business, so I left my job to start the business back and it is a really scary adventure.

“I manage it on my own so it’s scary, but it’s something that is very close to me. It’s a really exciting time for the business as we’ve also just launched our online services.

“We’ve had a lot more people interested since our move to the shopping centre, and I hope the added footfall can support to help remove life’s little obstacles, and a make a difference.”
