‘Dream come true’ for Joel

JOEL FAGG, aged 24, operations manager at the Barceló Walton Hall & Hotel, near Wellesbourne, has won a hospitality industry award.

The Acorn Scholarship, which unearths talented people within the hospitality industry and helps them reach to their career goals, was awarded to Joel in recognition of his work and dedication.

Joel, whose ambitions include running a luxury four-star hotel chain, won prizes including a £2,000 bursary for professional development, £1,500 worth of training from Learn Purple, monthly coaching sessions with mentor and managing director of Learn Purple, Jane Sunley, a trip to Luxembourg and regular sessions with the scholarship judges.

Joel said: “It really is a dream come true to have won such a scholarship and a once in a life-time opportunity, especially after being a runner-up last year.

“It feels amazing to know that my talent and passion for hospitality has been recognised by industry leaders.

“I am extremely excited to work alongside the 12 judges and to have the opportunity to learn from their invaluable experience.”
