A loyal customer of the Just For The Record vinyl record shop, on the first floor above Hunt’s book shop in High Street, Rugby, brought in an interesting find recently.

Shop owner Sally Wolanski explained: “A customer kindly brought these old gramophone record sleeves into the shop which he found in the rafters of a another customer’s roof whilst doing some repairs.

“I wondered whether any of your readers might be able to shed any light as to when these shops ceased business?”

“They were found in such an unusual place with little being known about their history – does anyone know these shops?”

The names on the record sleeve are Foort’s Pianos, which was based at 23 Church Street, JTE Brown of 6-10 Albert Street and 7 Sheep Street, Hansons – the leading house for pianos and gramophones, and Dadley and Wheeler record house of 3 Clifton Road.

Avid record collector Sally fulfilled a lifelong dream when she opened her own vinyl shop in September this year.
