We haven't seen the town centre this crowded for a long, long time.

Haircuts, Italian ice cream and a lunchtime pint were among the treats on offer to Rugbeians as they flocked to the town centre today, April 12.

Not an empty seat could be seen at the barbers and hairdressers, while many enjoyed a pint outside the Lawrence Sheriff pub.

Maia Gelato seemed a particular favourite, with the socially-distanced queue snaking out of the door and the outdoor seating area full of customers.

Ice cream in the sunshine seemed like just the thing for many Rugbeians.

The Advertiser was hoping to stop in and have a chat with some of the businesses - but crowds of customers meant we thought it best to leave staff to get on with what looks to be a brilliant day of trading.
