I love this piece I spotted in one of our 1920 editions of the Advertiser.

It seems to be the earliest form of submitted reader pictures - and could have been something sent in to us just last week.

Funny how some things haven’t changed in 100 years.

Hoping this photo will make a nice little group for your paper, which all of us are anxious to receive at any time. I will close, from Yours truly HJ Kedge.”

Rifleman Kedge is an old Murrayian and joined the Regular Army before the War, serving five years in India.

He was drafted to Europe in September 1914 and after fighting France, where he contracted frost-bite, he was transferred to Salonika.

He remained there for three years and afterwards returned to France, where he was wounded during the heavy fighting immediately preceding the Armistice.
