A scene from the Southfields Estate street party to celebrate VE Day in 1945

I’m hoping this will be the first of many VE Day celebrations pictures we have this year, being the 75th anniversary.

Thank you very much to Mike Lee for setting the ball rolling with this wonderful scene from the Southfields Estate, Tower Road and Naseby Road which held a joint street party in 1945.

Mike can’t remember many names, but says the lady standing on the right in dark jacket is my Mother, Violet Lee, me (Michael Lee) standing on chair in dark pants with braces, brother Ron on my left with party hat. The other boy standing is Pete Thomas, Nancy Thomas on his left. The grinning boy standing the opposite side with silly hat is Ted Thomas, and girl at front of picture is Marion Bradshaw.
