Designed as a passenger car, the XC90 combines a stable, controlled drive and alert steering response with the ultimate in comfort, luxury and safety.

The model’s All-Wheel Drive is an electronically controlled system that helps enhance stability and is equipped with PreTension® which improves take-off speed and delivers higher traction on slippery surfaces. Volvo’s Dynamic Stability and Traction Control system continuously registers the car’s roll rate, making it possible to detect slowly building skids at an early stage.

Roll Stability Control is an active system that intervenes in situations when the car senses that there is a risk of rolling over. WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System), SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and IC (Inflatable Curtain) are all standard safety features.

The XC90 is powered by the high-performance D5 engine that produces 200 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, meeting the Euro 5 legislation.

Volvo’s On Call system can now be combined with Bluetooth mobile phone connection whilst a new mobile application extends the system so that the driver can stay in touch with the parked car via an iPhone or Android smart phone. 

Volvo On Call provides access to information such as fuel level, remaining range to empty tank, average fuel consumption, average speed, odometer reading and trip meter reading; and car check which tells the driver about bulbs, brake fluid level, coolant level, engine oil level and engine oil pressure.
