Sytner sponsors Olympic athlete

BMW and Mini dealership, Sytner Coventry is delighted to be sponsoring local athlete Steve Lewis in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Steve Lewis is one of the top pole vaulters in the World and is currently Great Britain’s number one.

He has medalled twice in the Commonwealth games and his best achievements include finishing 7th in the World Championships in Berlin and 6th at the World Indoor Championships in Doha.

Steve said: “My personal best is 5.75 metres which is roughly four 6ft people standing on each other’s shoulders.”

The sponsorship deal is to assist him in meeting transportation needs for training, competitions and events.

This month Sytner Coventry presented Steve with a brand new BMW 320d Coupe. Steve travels between Loughborough and London every week to train and the BMW will help him arrive there in style.

“I spend so much time driving around the UK and Europe. It’s not only helping me to get around in more comfort but helping me to look cool doing it.”

The announcement follows the appointment in 2009 of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games.

As well as supplying over 4,000 fuel-efficient vehicles throughout the Games, BMW is also actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team.

Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers, such as Blue Bell Crewe are working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.
