Dear Sir, in your issue of the 5th you state that during the past week the Government have provided refreshments for intending recruits. This is not correct. The attention of the Chairman of the Council was called to the fact that the recruits had to wait a long time before their departure without any refreshment. So with the liberal help of several friends the present arrangement was organised. It is purely a local voluntary effort and all the lady helpers are relatives or friends of the Council. Yours faithfully, Arthur Morson, Clerk of the Urban District Council.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 ‘first time’ voters may hold the key when Rugby goes to the polls in the October General Election.
Some of them have had the opportunity of voting in municipal elections, but there is a hard core of 611, who have become 21 between last October and June 16th this year, who will be voting for the first time.
The Conservative party has a slim 47- majority over Labour in the 1959 General Election so it is obvious the 611 first timers are a vital factor in deciding which way the decision will go.
